Pre Wedding Shoot, What the hell are they and why would you do one?!

I cant tell you how many times during one of these shoots I hear my couples say something along the lines of… “I was telling my co workers we are doing our pre wedding photos at the weekend and they were confused why we would do that?!” So I’m here to tell you why you absolutely should do one and what the benefits are.

If you have considered doing a Pre Wedding shoot then my advice would be, do it!! Wedding planning is so stressful but its also such a special time in your life, a time that doesn’t last very long. So what better why to celebrate this unique time period than by capturing it on camera? I know during the lead up to my wedding I relished any moment I got to “be a bride” and this is one of the few things in the planning you guys can do together.

But what actually is involved?

My advice to couples is to think about what is special to them, do they have a happy place? Or a place that is significant in their love story? Or even just a pretty cool hobby that makes them unique. It doesn’t have to be anything extravagant either. If chilling on the couch with your pets and a good cup of coffee/glass of wine is a favourite thing for you to do then lets do that. This month I had the pleasure of tagging along with a couple while they recreated their first date, which involved getting matching tattoos and Greggs sausage rolls washed down with cocktails. Take a day off from the stress of wedding planning and go a date day (with me third wheeling…)

When should you do it?

There is no right time but there are a few things to consider. You can do it as soon as you book or on your wedding date to mark a year to go. I used my pre wedding photos as an easy (and budget friendly!) way to personalise our invitations and decorate our wedding website. If that is something you would want to do then the earlier the better. Another good tip is to tie it in with your make up trial, this allows you to see how the make up will be photographed and if there is anything you would want to change. If for you doing a pre wedding shoot is to get you comfortable with being in front of the camera then I would recommend doing it closer to your wedding date.

Why should you do it?

You aren’t ever going to regret doing it. A lot of people have never had professional photos of them taken, especially not while they are acting all lovey dovey with their significant other, so it can be daunting just thinking about it. The couples photos is often the part of the wedding day the couples feel most nervous about. So getting some practice in can only be beneficial. It also gives us a chance to hang out before your big day which can also help to relax you while getting your wedding photos done.

How do i book in and what is the investment?

If this all sounds good to you then just give me an email/message and I'll get you booked in! As I am fully booked for weddings for 2023 I can take bookings over the weekends for these during this year. The investment is £250 and you will receive all edited images on a digital gallery that can be downloaded in high resolution.
